Hologram display comparison

Miirage vs HYPERVSN:
Which Hologram Display Is Best?

Miirage and HYPERVSN are both used for eye-catching holographic experiences, but they create the effect in fundamentally different ways. This comparison looks at 3D hologram technology, digital avatars, hologram advertising, interaction, safety, software, content, walls and real-world deployment.

Different techMiirage uses an enclosed transparent display. HYPERVSN uses rapidly rotating LED rays to create floating 3D imagery.
3,000+ nitsHYPERVSN SmartV L is designed for extremely bright, long-range visual impact and publishes brightness around 3,000 nits.
Close-range AIMiirage is designed around realistic life-size people, direct touch and customer interaction at normal conversational distance.

This is not a like-for-like hardware comparison

Miirage and HYPERVSN are often grouped together because both are sold as holographic displays for retail, events, advertising and customer engagement. The underlying technologies, however, are very different.

Miirage Miracle is an enclosed life-size transparent-display system. HYPERVSN SmartV creates a floating visual using rapidly rotating LED rays. A single SmartV Solo is compact, while larger experiences such as a Holographic Human, Digital Avatar or hologram wall combine multiple displays, accessories and control hardware. [1] [2]

The practical question is therefore not simply which has the better hologram effect. It is which architecture better matches the job: floating product spectacle, large-format advertising, realistic human presence, AI customer service, touch interaction or scalable retail-media deployment.

Miirage vs HYPERVSN: side-by-side comparison

The two platforms overlap in advertising, retail and AI, but the user experience and installation model are very different.

Short answer

HYPERVSN is exceptionally strong when the goal is a bright floating object, product, logo or large modular holographic wall. Miirage is stronger when the display needs to function as a realistic life-size person, AI assistant, customer-service interface, touch experience and monetisable retail-media or OOH node from one enclosed public-facing unit.

What is HYPERVSN?

HYPERVSN is the trading name used by UK company Kino-mo Ltd for a range of rotor-based 3D hologram products. The core SmartV Solo uses four rapidly rotating LED rays to create content that appears to float in mid-air. Multiple units can be synchronised into a SmartV Wall, while the wider ecosystem includes Holographic Human, Digital Avatar, interactive product applications and protective accessories. [1] [8]

HYPERVSN has built particularly strong visibility around 3D holographic displays, retail installations, exhibitions, DOOH and floating product animation. Its technology is visually distinctive because the image appears without a conventional rectangular screen surrounding it.

What is Miirage?

Miirage is a life-size holographic display platform designed for advertising, AI avatar assistants, live communication, interactive customer experiences, retail media and OOH. Miirage Miracle combines a 4K transparent display with infrared touch, Windows 11 Pro computing, camera, microphone, audio, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and 4G/5G connectivity.

The key distinction is that Miracle is an enclosed human-scale communication system. A customer can stand directly in front of it, touch the main display, speak to a digital human, watch a live remote presenter or view advertising without needing a separate interaction screen or protective rotor enclosure.

How the hologram technology differs

The technologies solve different visual problems. Miirage uses a transparent LCD architecture inside a controlled cabinet. Carefully produced content and controlled internal lighting create depth while the physical frame gives the image a stable life-size presentation surface.

HYPERVSN SmartV relies on persistence of vision. LED rays rotate fast enough that the eye perceives individual illuminated positions as a complete moving image. HYPERVSN describes SmartV Solo as a four-ray rotor display. [1]

Miirage format

Best where realistic people, facial detail, direct touch, live communication and sustained close-range interaction matter.

HYPERVSN format

Best where the goal is an open-air floating effect, exceptional brightness, animated products, logos or scalable visual spectacle.

Is HYPERVSN a hologram projector?

No. Searchers frequently use terms such as hologram projector, holographic projector and holographic 3D projector when looking for this type of product, and HYPERVSN itself ranks for those search terms. Technically, however, SmartV is not a projector because it does not project an image onto another surface.

It is more accurately described as a rotor-based holographic display. The LEDs are mounted on spinning rays, and the motion of those rays creates the apparent floating image. That difference matters when evaluating installation, safety, viewing distance and what types of content look most convincing.

HYPERVSN Holographic Human vs Miirage life-size hologram

HYPERVSN's Holographic Human uses three synchronised SmartV Solo L displays arranged vertically. HYPERVSN states that this solution is designed for pre-produced 3D human content, such as a brand ambassador, employee or founder. [2] [4]

This can create a striking hologram person or holographic human, particularly when the brief calls for an open-air visual. Miirage takes a different route: a person is shown at life size inside one integrated portrait cabinet, with the display, computer, camera, microphone, audio and touch layer forming one system.

For prerecorded presentations either approach can be effective. For reception, customer service, product advice, wayfinding or live human communication at close range, Miirage's integrated human-scale format is simpler and more natural to interact with.

Digital Avatar and AI

HYPERVSN is no longer only a visual advertising company. Its SmartV Digital Avatar combines holographic hardware with speech-to-text, chatbot services, text-to-speech and animation. HYPERVSN says the avatar can support more than 100 languages and can be customised in appearance, clothing, branding, voice and personality. [3]

HYPERVSN distinguishes this from Holographic Human: Holographic Human plays pre-produced content, while Digital Avatar is the interactive AI product capable of real-time conversation. [4]

The life-size Digital Avatar is a multi-component solution that combines SmartV hardware with a PC, microphone, speakers, a touch monitor, control hardware and an avatar subscription. Miirage AI Avatar uses the Miracle cabinet itself as the main public-facing interaction surface, with the camera, microphone, audio and touch already integrated into the display.

Touch and interactivity

Both platforms can be interactive, but the interaction model is different. Miirage uses infrared touch directly on the main front display.

HYPERVSN supports several interactive applications, including Digital Avatar, 3D Modeller, 3D Library and Lift & Learn. Its documentation shows touchscreen control being provided through a separate touchscreen or control stand, rather than by touching the spinning LED display itself. [5]

That makes HYPERVSN particularly versatile for experiences where the floating visual and the control interface can be separated. Miirage is more direct for a walk-up customer who expects to touch the same life-size surface they are looking at.

Safety and public installation

Safety is one of the biggest practical differences between the technologies. HYPERVSN's rotating rays become difficult to see while operating, so its knowledge base specifies mandatory rules for exposed SmartV Wall installations. These include a minimum viewing distance of 2 metres and a lower-edge height of at least 3.1 metres above floor level unless the installation is protected by a physical barrier or protective accessory. HYPERVSN also states that people and objects must not come into contact with the rotating rays. [6]

This does not mean HYPERVSN cannot be used at eye level. HYPERVSN sells Domes, Plex Boxes, Glass Boxes, Cubes, Prime, Edge and other protective accessories specifically to make close public installations practical. [12]

Miirage Miracle encloses the display technology inside the cabinet, so there are no exposed rotating rays. That is advantageous in locations where children, shoppers, passengers or guests may naturally walk straight up to the display and touch it.

Hologram advertising, holographic signs and DOOH

HYPERVSN is very strong in hologram advertising. Floating shoes, watches, bottles, logos, vehicles and other animated objects suit the technology extremely well. It can function as a dramatic holographic sign, especially in retail, exhibitions and environments where viewers see the installation from several metres away.

Miirage advertising is more screen-like in campaign flexibility but adds the ability to switch the same physical location into an AI assistant, live presenter, customer-service point or interactive product experience. That is important for retail media, where a display can earn media revenue during campaigns and remain useful when a paid campaign is not running.

HYPERVSN can be the better choice for a spectacular floating product. Miirage can be the better choice for a monetised location that needs advertising and human interaction from one permanent asset.

HYPERVSN hologram walls and large-format visuals

SmartV Wall is one of HYPERVSN's clearest advantages. Multiple Solo units can be synchronised into large configurations, creating bright modular hologram walls. HYPERVSN provides both M and L wall systems and a wall calculator for planning multi-unit layouts. [8] [7]

SmartV L publishes a diameter of 750 mm, a unit weight below 1 kg for the display rotor itself and brightness around 3,000 nits. That combination of very lightweight individual visual modules and high brightness makes the technology particularly compelling for large floating advertising installations. [7]

Miirage does not currently try to beat HYPERVSN at open-air modular wall spectacle. Miirage's advantage is human-scale interaction and using the same location as a communications and commercial platform.

Software and content management

HYPERVSN has a mature software ecosystem. SmartV can be managed through its web-based CMS and HYPERVSN App, with tools for playlists, scheduling, device health and content creation. SmartV supports standalone Player mode, HDMI input and real-time RTSP stream mode. [9] [10]

HYPERVSN also offers 3D Studio, Design Lab and a Media Library, which are useful for brands that need content optimised specifically for the rotor effect.

Miirage uses an integrated Windows 11 Pro environment, which gives customers a more conventional and open computing layer for third-party applications, bespoke software, browser-based services, enterprise tools and live-streaming platforms.

HYPERVSN price and total system cost

HYPERVSN's current store pages invite customers to request a purchase quotation rather than publishing a fixed SmartV Solo, SmartV Wall, Holographic Human or Digital Avatar price. [11]

That makes a public like-for-like price comparison unreliable. A HYPERVSN system can include one or more SmartV displays, SmartV Box controllers, power modules, frames or protective accessories, content services and software. A Digital Avatar adds a PC, interaction hardware, microphone, speakers and a subscription available in 3-month, 1-year, 2-year and 5-year terms. [3]

Miirage buyers should therefore compare complete configured systems rather than a single rotor against a complete life-size cabinet. The correct comparison is the cost of delivering the required experience at the required number of locations.

One cabinet, multiple jobs

The same life-size unit can move between advertising, AI assistance, customer service, prerecorded content and live human communication.

Is Miirage a good HYPERVSN alternative?

Yes, when the buyer is evaluating HYPERVSN because they want a high-impact holographic installation but their real requirement is a life-size customer-facing person, AI assistant, retail-media display or live communication platform.

It is less useful to call Miirage a direct HYPERVSN alternative when the requirement is specifically a floating shoe, bottle, logo or enormous rotor wall. In those cases HYPERVSN's technology is solving a different problem and can be the better specialist choice.

The two technologies overlap commercially, but they should not be treated as interchangeable hardware.
